A Report on Observing the CONSTITUTION DAY on 26 Nov2015
VInayaka Missions Sikkim University Observed the “Constitution Day” on 26th of November 2015. All the university staff and the students were invited to observe the day. The programme was based on three main activities:
(i) To pay tribute to Dr. B.R. Ambedkar on his 125th birth anniversary, the chair person of the constitution draft committee.
(ii) Reading out the Preamble of Indian Constitution and clarifying the specific term used in,
(iii) An Open House Session was organized for discussion and opinion review on the topic” How far our Constitution serves its purpose in changing scenario of globalization?”
The welcome address followed by a patriot song was presented by Ms. Ambika Sharma, Faculty of College of Nursing.
The event emphasized on the importance of the day as per the Preamble of Indian constitution and a talk was presented by Dr. Sudha K Jha, Associate Professor, VMS College of Arts & Science. She highlighted Dr.Ambedkar’s, numerous contributions to the nation, and also to the humanity, which are source of great inspirations for the world. Ms. Lhamit Lepcha and Ms. Pranita Sharma, Principal In-charges of VMSCON read out the Preamble and elaborated on how the Constitution helps the country unite its people who have diverse background. The program concluded with National Anthem followed by high tea.
The event had participation from local media groups.
